Social Policy
The Social Policy Program researches policy issues related to children, families and communities in Illinois and across the nation.
Faculty in this program analyze such topics as social insurance, child welfare, criminal justice, education and relationships in the work place. They turn their research into educational opportunities for legislators, government officials, and those in the non-governmental social service community. Thus, important research can be translated quickly into programs and policies that aid the people who most need help.
The Social Policy Program is also the home of the Family Impact Seminar, an annual briefing for legislators and others about a pressing family policy issues facing the state each legislative session. The Family Impact Seminar connects policymakers with the most up-to-date and cutting edge research on the topic in question each year.
