Areas of Focus
The Institute of Government and Public Affairs concentrates its efforts in five major programs: Governance, Health Policy, Public Finance and Economic Development, Race and Public Policy, and Social Policy.
These Programs represent the strengths of the Institute’s faculty and research staff. Each faculty member and fellow excels in at least one of these areas, bringing research and scholarly expertise to crucial issues that confront policymakers.
Specific expertise ranges from the inner workings of the property tax system to the economics of universal health care coverage to analyzing proposals to reform the campaign finance system, and more. IGPA pays close attention to all the policy issues facing Illinois and responds rapidly to changes in political priority and focus.
Each Program works each year to develop research projects and public engagement opportunities that further IGPA’s mission.
