Illinois Municipal League
IGPA and the Illinois Municipal League (IML) have collaborated since 1996. This partnership, most frequently with IGPA's Office of Public Leadership, has created the longest running and most successful leadership academy for municipal officials in the United States. The Leadership Enhancement and Development Program (LEAD) is a year-long leadership program for mayors, council members and municipal department heads. Participation requires a 12-day commitment and sessions are each two days in length, scheduled every other month beginning each year in August. The Leadership Forum is an advanced course of study that focuses primarily on critical thinking, policy analysis and implementation.
